The 22nd LP record by Titiek Sandhora, again with Muchsin, From 1971

The record surface is rather scratched, but not till an unbearable level.

"Maju Dua Centi" - Forward 2 centimetres - One of the "I know someone who uses to...." songs. In this case about a person, when angry, always make protrude the lips 2 cm forward, like a chicken.
"Didiamkan Keenakan" - Better not reveal or talk about - Titiek wants to know if Muchsin had someone else before they met.
"Pesan Ibu" - Mother's instructions" ( Take a good wife ) It is from the Original: " Visions " ( 1966 ) by Cliff Richard.
"Kontes Ratu Kecantikan" - Beauty contest -
"Datang Dan Perginya Cinta" - Love Came an Went -
"Ku Ingin Mengerti" - I want to know -
"Sehidup Semati" - Till death us part - It is an imported song sounds a little Bombay - styled.
"Teringat Kampong Halaman" - Remembering my village - This song belongs to the "Mandarin" genre. But in fact it
originates from Japan, titled: "Saku No Kojiro" Iti s one of the nicest songs from Muchsin, it has motion and tempo, which I like.
"Aku Diciwiti" A Javanese song.
"Jangan Sampai Dua Kali" - Not a second time - I nice song, well constructed, like a song should be.
"Terimalah Daku Ini" - Accept me -
"Jangan Mengemis Cinta" - Cannot translate the title "Mengemis" is unknown to me.

The sixteenth album produced in 1970

On the coverphotos the singer Titiek Sandhora on the motorhood of a Fiat

near Juanda Airport in Surabaya ( I think )

She bought a Fiat herself from the revenues of her records and live concerts.

Her own car however was ivory white according an article in "Tempo" magazine from 23 april 1971. ( Thanks Mellowtone )

In those days one could see many European cars, the import from Japan had just begun.

On the backside of the record Muchsin, just walking in the vincinity.

The first song "Bini Lagi Ngidam" ( The Wife Is Craving ) is about a wife who is craving for the Durian fruit.

She sends her husband all over town to look for it, a difficult task because it is not

yet the right season for this fruit. He proposes to buy another kind of fruit, but the wife insists in having

the durian fruit and nothing else. As you mabe know already the Durian, the king of fruits, is something

people love or hate, there is no way inbetween.

Because of the many love song duets, many people were wondering if they really were attracted to each other or just acting. The mother of Titiek Sandhora was against any kind of relationship, she did not trust Muchsin who was 10 years older than Titiek Sandhora who was just 16 at he time this record was produced..

Later Titiek Sandhora and Muchsin Alatas married, in 1973.

The front side is damaged. 

"Taman Impian Jaya" This is about a fun a leisure area north of Jakarta at the seashore. It consists of a swimmingpool, a delphinarium, an Indonesian version of Disneyland, an art market, a drive in cinema, hotels etc. The area is known as "Ancol" an old geographical name from the time this area was still a muddy piece of land near the sea. So children often beg their parents "when we go to Ancol"

"Bukan Aku Menggoda" - I don't tempt - This piece of music belongs to the "Mandarin" genre.

"Harapan Yang Hilang" - Hope is gone - Kind of relax-jazz way of singing, quite rare.

"Antara Cinta Dan Masa Depan" - Between love and the future - A new composition in "Melayu" fashion

"Kais Dan Laila" - Kais and laila - A tragical love story from the Middle East. in Melayu style.

"Menantang Neraka" -Living with mother in law, like hell.

"Berikanlah Kasih Sayang" - Give me love - another song with Chinese roots

"Jangan Jual Mahal" - Don't sell too expensive - thats about a girl has too hig demands for the right guy. It is a nice composition in Melayu style by Zakarya, who often made such works.

"Ku Selalu Disampingmu" - I''ll be always by your side -

"Hatimu Sekeras Batu" - Your heart is like a stone - Nice song Composed Is Haryanto.

 This is one of the first pieces of my collection, I bought it in 1974.

It has a different sound compared with other recordings from Titiek Sandhora and Muchsin.
Very fine songs, maybe they are made by Zaenal Arifin.
I am not quite sure, the band is Zaenal Combo, this can be a clue he was also the composer.
Side 2 of this cassette, which is by Ervinna, will be uploaded later.

The design of the front cover is very different from the backside.
I have the same record also on the "Globe-Record" label where the red green backside
is also used as front side.
Strangely enough some songs mentioned on the cover are not on the record.
Even the song "Jangan Ngintip" ( Don't Peek ) which is the title of the whole album.
Its listed on the cover but not on the record itself.

"Manuk Podang" is Javanese,
"Bila Menjadi Gadis Remaja" and "Di Tepi Danau Toba" sounding like a song from the Mandarin genre, maybe even from Japan.
"Tang Ting Tang Ting" is the sound of a street vendor, each seller having its own sound, ringing a bell or knocking on a piece of wood or bamboo.
The record is from 1970 the Titiek Sandhora & Muchsin finest year: about 10-15 Lp albums were produced then, dont know the exact number. The genuine albums from 1969-1971 are always the ones labeled "Remaco" and "Mutiara" , so the "Globe-Record" is a kind of outlet-production or derivate. After 1972 new songs were originally recorded on other labels.
Titiek Sandhora and Muchsin were not directly under contract with Remaco, but paid by 2 rich persons, one named Ang Ka Loang from Surabaya. They bought the all Titiek Sandhora records made by Remaco and took all the risk for the sales. Maybe Mutiara was their private label.

The 2 songs I like the most:

P.S. When hearing "Siapa itu" I discovered an irregularity at the end of the the song, caused by a dameged section of this record.

The record from approx 1969, not released by Remaco, as usual, but by JBL.
The song "Dalam Kerinduan" is from a damaged section of this record. A deplorable fact because it is nice "Melayu" styled song by Zakaria who often composed this genre.
Typical for the Melayu style are the stretched vowels in glissando ondulating between a high and a low tone.

The 17th LP of Titiek Sandhora, again with Muchsin Alatas, on the mainstream Mutiara Label on which they did most of their songs.
This LP could be from 1971 already.
It is not the nicest, other recordings from this duo are more to my favor.
It was not yet the beginning of the end, about five Lp's would follow.
In the first song "Hakim Jaksa dan Terdakwa" ( The judge and the accused ) Titiek Sandhora is the judge and Muchsin is giving silly answers to her questions. Only because this duo was famous they could permit themselves to make songs like this.
It is not a song, more a kind of folly theatre play. I personally prefer the songs which really sound like a song. Just hear other playlists from this duo
"Jatuh Cinta Lagi" ( Fall in love again ) is a coversong, a connot recall the name of the original singer, it is still somewhere in the vaults of my brain, the melody is well known to me. ( Cliff Richard ?? )
"Jangan Ditanya" ( Don't ask ) is a reasonably o.k song.
"Saatnya Akan Tiba" ( The time will come ) also to be heard by Ernie Djohan
"Batang Nareh" a song from Minangkabau. The sturdy voice of Elly Kasim suits better to this genre.
"Jangan Coba Coba" ( Don't try ) is originally "Golden threads and silver needles" by Skeeter Davis.
